Webhook flow
Tell Simetrik where the file is and it fetches it — one notification per file, answered with the response your platform expects.
This is the flow for systems that already know when a file is ready. Instead of delivering the bytes, you send a small JSON notification with the file's URL; JaaS downloads it, delivers it to the source and — if you asked for it — calls you back as it goes.
How it differs from file ingestion
| Webhook flow | |
|---|---|
| Who downloads | Simetrik, from the URL you send, using the credentials you registered. |
| Conversion | None. The file is delivered exactly as you published it, so publish it in the shape the source expects. |
| Timing | Immediate. Every notification queues its own file, no waiting for a batch. |
| The reply | Fully yours: status code, content type and body are whatever you configured. |
| Scope | One file per notification. |
Because there's no JSON-to-CSV step, the column schema plays no role here — the source is created with a placeholder column and what matters is the content of the file you publish.
How it works
Register the webhook once
POST /api/v2/webhooks creates the source and the webhook together. You get back a webhook_id.
Point your system at the notification endpoint
Whenever a file is ready, your system calls POST /api/v2/webhooks/{webhook_id}/feed-source with the file's URL in the payload.
Simetrik answers immediately
With the status code, content type and body you configured. The answer means accepted, not processed — the download hasn't happened yet.
The file is fetched and delivered
JaaS downloads it from your URL with the registered credentials, delivers it to the source and notifies reconciliation.
You're told how it went
Through status notifications, if you registered them. This is the only way to learn the outcome — the reply to your notification was sent long before.
The URL you send has to be reachable from Simetrik and has to stay valid until the download finishes. Signed URLs work well; give them enough lifetime to cover the queue plus the transfer.
